Highway road accidents in Gujarat, like in many other regions of India, have become a major concern for public safety, health, and economic well-being. With an expanding road network and rising vehicular traffic, the state faces a growing number of highway accidents, resulting in significant loss of life, injuries, and financial costs. While various interventions have been implemented to reduce accidents, one of the most critical areas needing attention is increasing public awareness and education on road safety. This paper examines the current situation of highway accidents in Gujarat, identifies the socio-legal factors contributing to accidents, and discusses the importance of creating widespread awareness to improve road safety. It explores the effectiveness of existing initiatives, evaluates challenges in enforcement, and proposes strategic recommendations to address these issues.
