The Maratha Empire (1674–1818) stands as one of the most significant and influential empires in Indian history. It was a bastion of regional power that arose in opposition to Mughal rule and came to dominate much of the Indian subcontinent by the 18th century. This research paper delves into the strategies employed by the Marathas in their rise to power, their period of expansion, and the eventual decline of the empire. By analyzing military tactics, administrative policies, and key figures such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, this paper aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Maratha Empire's historical trajectory.
