In the study of the labor market, how technological advancement affects work is an important matter. The effect of new technology on productivity is much more at the firm level as compared to the national level. This study presents a framework to understand how technology as well as other types of automation affect the demand of labor and interpret changes in employment. Automation enables the replacement of labor in jobs and shifts the tasks of production against labor. It is called as displacement effect. Technology reduces the demand for labor as well as their share in the value-adding products and services. The impact of technology and automation are counter balanced by the development of new tasks wherein the labor has a comparative advantage. The technology changes the task of labor for which workers need to undergo training to handle the machines and computerized equipment. Technology has positive as well as negative impacts on labor tasks and job profiles. Sample of 363 people from different occupational sectors have been surveyed to study the factors that determines the Impact of Technology on Changing Labor Tasks and Job Profile. It is found through the study that there is a significant impact of technology on Changing Labor Tasks and Job Profile.
