The study aims are proposed to synthesize some new series of benzoxazole-isatin conjugates in which benzoxazole and isatin nuclei are joined through phenyl imine with different substituents on isatin nuclei as shown in the general structure-I and evaluate them for antibacterial and anti-oxidant activity and to purify the synthesized compounds by re-crystallization or column chromatography techniques. Antibacterial activity was carried out by cup plate agar diffusion method by measuring the zone of inhibition in mm. The synthesized derivatives 3-((4-(benzo[d]oxazol-2-yl) phenyl) imino indolin-2-ones IV(a-p), have been evaluated for their antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis) and Gram-negative (Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia) bacteria by measuring the zone of inhibition. All the sixteen new substituted 3-((4-(benzo[d]oxazol-2-yl) phenyl)imino) indolin-2-ones IV(a-p) were evaluated for anti-oxidant activity by DPPH method.
