Abstract

Self-Help Groups (SHGs) have emerged as a powerful tool for women’s empowerment in India, offering a platform for economic, social, and psychological growth. These groups, primarily aimed at providing financial support and fostering solidarity among women, have played a pivotal role in addressing gender disparities and promoting socio-economic development at the grassroots level. The objective of this article is to explore the role of SHGs in empowering women, focusing on their impact on financial independence, decision-making, social cohesion, and community leadership. By reviewing case studies and existing literature, the paper analyzes the challenges and opportunities associated with SHGs, while emphasizing their significance in fostering inclusive development and achieving gender equality.
