Qualitative and quantitative antioxidant activities were evaluated by free radical scavenging method using stable radical DPPH (80µg/ml). The reducing power of the extract was also determined using potassium ferricyanide and increase in absorbance was measured on UV spectrophotometer. Aldose reductase inhibitory activity was determined by determining the decrease in NADPH conc. at 340nm using UV spectrophotometer. The two isolated fractions of methanolic extract obtained by column chromatography were screened for antioxidant and aldose reductase inhibitory activity.
