Domestic violence remains a significant issue in India, with profound effects on the physical, mental, and nutritional well-being of victims. In Lucknow, as in many other cities, victims of domestic violence often face compounded challenges, including psychological trauma, stress, and inadequate nutrition. The legal framework, particularly the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 (PWDVA), plays a crucial role in providing legal remedies, ensuring safety, and promoting recovery for victims. However, despite these provisions, mental health support and nutritional interventions for victims often remain underfunded and underutilized. This paper explores the intersection of legal protections, mental health care, and nutritional support systems available to domestic violence survivors in Lucknow. It analyzes existing legal mechanisms, government initiatives, and the role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in addressing the challenges faced by these victims. Furthermore, it examines the gaps in implementation and suggests recommendations to improve access to mental health services and nutritional support, ensuring holistic recovery for survivors of domestic violence in Lucknow.
