Margaret Atwood’s MaddAddam Trilogy (2003-2013) presents a dystopian view of the futuristic world. The trilogy presents various forms of dystopian world. One of the dystopian possibilities is a society which has a discriminatory hierarchy which segregates people. Here the society is divided into two social classes – the Compounds and the Pleeblands. The Compounds live a privileged life, whereas the Pleeblands are said to live a disorganized chaotic life. The Compounds live in a secure gate environment while the Pleeblands are left to themselves. This hierarchy is a reflection of the present gated community in urban societies.
