This paper elaborates various approaches and methods used in English language teaching and learning. English is universally acknowledged as an international Language. Indians have been using English in India since many years and to teach such a living language in India, many methods and approaches have been invented. It is also seen that it is the worry of parents that their child should learn English. But, this will not happen suddenly. And, English is not the first language of the learners. They come from rural and semi- urban area to learn. So, English as Second Language teachers are always faced the problem of apt methods, approaches and techniques. It is really difficult challenge for them to make their class to understand, learn and speak the language. So, in this paper, the researcher discusses the various approaches, methods of English Language Teaching and Learning. This paper concludes with researcher’s view on apt method of English language teaching and learning.
