Abstract

Digital health is a rapidly evolving field that has the potential to improve healthcare access, delivery, and outcomes. India, with its large population and diverse healthcare needs, is an ideal context for exploring the sustainable adoption of digital health. However, the successful adoption of digital health in India requires addressing several challenges, including stakeholder perceptions and readiness. Objective: The objective of this study was to explore the perspectives of stakeholders on the sustainable adoption of digital health in India. Methods: We conducted semi-structured interviews with 20 stakeholders, including healthcare providers, policymakers, and technology experts. The interviews were transcribed, and the data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Results: The study findings suggest that stakeholders perceive digital health as a promising solution to improve healthcare access and delivery in India, particularly in rural areas. However, several challenges need to be addressed for its sustainable adoption, such as infrastructure, literacy, and privacy concerns. Stakeholders also highlighted the importance of capacity building and training for healthcare providers and the need for government policies and funding to support the adoption of digital health. Conclusions: The study provides insights into the perspectives of stakeholders on the sustainable adoption of digital health in India. The findings suggest that stakeholders recognize the potential benefits of digital health, but also acknowledge the challenges that need to be addressed for its successful adoption. These findings can inform policymakers and healthcare providers in India to develop effective strategies for the adoption and implementation of digital health in the country.
