It is common knowledge that people who work in the medical industry are expected to possess high levels of emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence can be defined as the capacity to recognise, assess, and manage one's own feelings as well as those of other individuals and of groups (EQ). The ability and trait EI models are the ones that have gotten the broadest recognition in the scientific literature. There have been a variety of models and definitions proposed, with the ability and trait EI models being the ones that have received the most attention.
