Neorealism: Debates
Abstract
The term neorealism has been defined and debated among social scientists and film historians. Its characteristics and milieu have been contextualized by its theoreticians and practitioners. Andre Bazin and other humanists analyzed and made sense of the neorealist movement through the lens of its ethical implications. Another humanist Luigi Chiarini argued that neorealism tends towards new cinematic forms that stand for an authentic revolution concerning the notion of cinema as a spectacle.
