Abstract

The contemporary scenario may include gender concerns as one of the significant topics of discussion. Gender is a constructed social structure intentionally established to assign a higher social status to men and a lower social status to women. Throughout history, with the exception of the Vedic period, the status of women has remained unacknowledged. Currently, the increased awareness, education, and exposure have provided sufficient opportunities for the marginalized genders in society to voice their concerns about their neglected communities. The theoretical framework concerning the characteristics and actions appropriate for women or men, as well as the cultural dynamics influencing the interactions between women and men. Gender identities and gender relations are fundamental elements of culture as they influence the manner in which everyday life is experienced within the home, as well as in the broader civil society and the professional environment. Gender serves as a societal organizing attitude due to the culturally assigned meanings associated with being male or female. This phenomenon is seen in the allocation of work based on gender. Hence, gender identity has emerged as a significant topic of discussion in contemporary times. Gender identity refers to an individual's cognitive, belief, and affective perception of oneself. Gender in connection to identity politics refers to the struggle for recognition and acceptance of one's own belonging. These proposal aim to combat atrocities and eliminate certain societal problems like as child marriage, polygamy, restrictions on widow remarriage, lack of access to education, and bad treatment. The current research study was conducted in Agartala, the municipal area capital of Tripura state. An aim of this study is to eliminate gender and identity politics in India, particularly in the Agartala municipal region.
