Abstract

During the 2021-22 rabi season, an experiment was conducted at the Instructional Farm of the Agronomy Department, AKS University, Satna (M.P.), to investigate the influence of Sulphur levels and cultivars on the growth and yield of mustard (Brassica juncea L.). The experiment utilized a Factorial Randomized Block Design with 12 treatment combinations, comprising four Sulphur levels: Control (S0), 15 kg S/ha (S1), 30 kg S/ha (S2), and 45 kg S/ha (S3), and three cultivars: Pusa Bold (V1), Pusa Mahak (V2), and Varuna (V3), with each treatment replicated three times. The results revealed that Sulphur levels significantly impacted the growth and yield attributes of mustard. The highest values for plant height, number of leaves per plant, number of branches per plant, number of siliquae per plant, number of grains per siliqua, test weight, seed yield, straw yield, and harvest index were observed under the application of 45 kg/ha Sulphur. Similarly, among the cultivars, 'Varuna' exhibited superior performance in terms of the characteristics as mentioned above of the mustard crop.
