Abstract

A needle stick injury (NSI) is a serious occupational health hazard in health care settings. Any break in the continuity of skin caused by contaminated needle stick or any infected sharps like vials, scalpel blade, etc can be a source of percutaneous exposure for the health care worker. Aims:The purpose of conducting this study was to observe the occurrence of NSI dependingon the sex, profession and working areas of the health care workers, reasons leading to these injuries and why do they go unreported in most cases.
