Abstract

The assessment and monitoring of body composition are imperative for sportspersons since a healthy physique plays a significant role in performance, success, and health. Consequently, sportspeople can assess their health accurately and plan their lifestyle and diet accordingly. The study aimed to analyze the body composition variables and evaluate anthropometry parameters among young sportspersons in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. This study was conducted on hundred sportspersons of age group 13-23 years from different colleges in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala. All the participants were assessed for Height, Weight, BMI, Waist circumference, Hip circumference, Waist-Hip Ratio and body composition variables such as body fat percentage, water percentage, protein percentage, obesity percentage, bone mass, muscle mass, lean body mass, metabolism, visceral fat and body age. Anthropometry parameters and Body composition variables were measured using standard methods and instruments.
