Abstract

The global food culture underwent substantial changes during the COVID-19 pandemic, as lockdowns and restrictions affected how people obtained, prepared, and consumed food. The pandemic brought attention to weaknesses in food supply chains, sparking a renewed focus on local and sustainable food sources. Social distancing measures resulted in a surge in home cooking and baking, while the closure of restaurants led to an increased reliance on food delivery services. These shifts not only transformed dietary patterns but also exposed disparities in access to nutritious food and food security on a global scale. As societies adjusted to new norms, conversations about food safety, hygiene, and the future of food systems became central to ongoing public discourse.
