Abstract

This paper explores contemporary Indian social issues through the lens of Chetan Bhagat's fiction. Bhagat, a prominent Indian author known for his realistic portrayals of middle-class life, provides a nuanced perspective on various societal challenges. His novels, including "Five Point Someone," "2 States," and "Half Girlfriend," delve into themes such as education, inter-cultural relationships, and economic disparity. Through a thematic analysis of these works, this study examines how Bhagat's narratives reflect and critique prevalent issues like the education system's pressures, cultural stereotypes, and the aspirations of India's youth. By examining Bhagat's portrayal of characters grappling with these issues, this paper aims to highlight their socio-cultural implications and relevance in contemporary Indian society. Ultimately, this analysis offers insights into how popular fiction can serve as a reflective mirror to societal realities, prompting discourse and potentially influencing social change.
