Abstract

Poultry farming in Imphal West, a major district of Manipur, India, has emerged as an important component of the local agricultural and rural economy. The present study provides a comprehensive assessment of poultry farming practices in Imphal West with specific focus on production performance, economic contribution, challenges faced by farmers, and future growth opportunities. Primary and secondary data were collected through field surveys, interviews with poultry farmers, and government reports to understand the current status of the sector. The findings reveal that poultry farming significantly contributes to income generation, employment, and nutritional security in the district, despite facing constraints such as high feed costs and disease outbreaks.
