Abstract

This paper explores the Mystical Themes of Sufism and Spirituality in Rumi's Poetry. Rumi's poetry stands as a timeless embodiment of mystical themes within Sufism, offering profound insights into spirituality that resonate across cultures and centuries. At the core of Rumi's verses lies the exploration of divine love (Ishq-e-Haqiqi), which serves as both the means and end of the spiritual journey in Sufi philosophy. This love is portrayed not merely as an emotion but as a transformative force that leads the soul towards union with the divine Beloved. Central to Rumi's mystical worldview is the concept of Tawhid, the oneness of God, which underpins his poetic exploration of spiritual unity and transcendence. His poetry often depicts the human longing for union with the divine as a journey of self-discovery and purification, where the ego dissolves in the presence of God. Rumi employs rich symbolism and allegory to convey these mystical truths, drawing upon everyday imagery such as the Beloved, the wine goblet, and the tavern to symbolize deeper spiritual realities. Through these symbols, Rumi invites readers to contemplate the nature of the soul's journey towards spiritual enlightenment and the ecstasy of divine communion. The theme of spiritual ecstasy (wajd) and intoxication (sukr) permeates Rumi's poetry, describing moments where the soul is enraptured by the divine presence. These states of spiritual intoxication symbolize a profound union with the divine and a transcendence of ordinary consciousness. Furthermore, Rumi's poetry promotes universal brotherhood and compassion, emphasizing the unity of all beings under the divine and transcending religious and cultural boundaries. His inclusive vision of spirituality resonates deeply in today's pluralistic world, offering a message of love, tolerance, and inner transformation. In essence, Rumi's poetry remains a beacon of Sufi mysticism, guiding readers on a spiritual journey towards union with the divine through themes of love, unity, ecstasy, and the universal quest for spiritual truth. His verses continue to inspire seekers of all backgrounds, inviting them to explore the depths of their souls in search of divine communion and inner peace.
