Abstract

The notion of educational sociology, which is described as the application of broad sociological ideas and results to the administration and operations of educational institutions and programs, is distinct from the premise of the sociology of education subfield. This distinction is important since educational sociology goes beyond the scope of the sociology of education. In this approach, an attempt is made to see schools as a distinct social entity that is worthy of being analysed using sociological theory. The area of educational sociology is believed to be able to address issues that come up in the realm of education. Therefore, the literature on the sociology of education included a wide range of subjects, including but not limited to: society, accommodations, assimilation, cultural lag, subcultures, status, and other related notions. In addition to these factors, sociologists examine the following: the role of the government and the economy in education; social forces and determinants that impact educational and cultural change; social institutions like the family, school, and church that play a role in education; the formal organisation of the school, including topics like authority, selection, learning organisation, and streaming; the relationship between social class, language, and culture; the relationship between education and occupation; and concerns about democratisation and elitism. When carrying out the aforementioned responsibilities, sociologists often use analytical approaches that are functionalist or historical correlation.
