The Bible's pervasive impact is difficult to overlook. Regardless of one’s personal beliefs, it is inevitable that one will encounter references to the Bible in numerous fields of English Literature .The quantity of references to the Bible in literature is astonishing; Shakespeare alludes to the Bible numerous times, possibly even exceeding a thousand mentions. Notable authors that use Biblical references or even center their entire works around the Bible include Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, Herman Melville, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Toni Morrison. Toni Morrison's novel Beloved contains numerous allusions, primarily to the Bible. By employing a line from the book of Romans as her epigraph, she succinctly encapsulates the totality of her narrative.
