Abstract

The impact of crisis management on food security and nutrition during pandemics is a critical area of study, given the substantial disruptions to global food systems and public health. This paper explores the multifaceted challenges and strategies involved in managing food security and nutritional needs during pandemics, with a focus on the COVID-19 pandemic as a case study. The pandemic has underscored the vulnerabilities in food supply chains, access to nutritious food, and public health systems. Effective crisis management strategies, including policy interventions, international cooperation, and community-based responses, play a pivotal role in mitigating these challenges. This study evaluates the effectiveness of various crisis management approaches, such as emergency food distribution programs, digital platforms for food access, and governmental support measures. Additionally, it examines the impact of these strategies on vulnerable populations, including low-income communities and marginalized groups. The findings indicate that proactive and adaptable crisis management frameworks are essential for maintaining food security and nutrition during pandemics. The paper also highlights the need for strengthening global and local food systems, enhancing preparedness plans, and fostering resilience to ensure sustainable food security in future crises. Recommendations are provided for policymakers and stakeholders to improve crisis management practices and enhance food security and nutrition resilience.
