URBAN RESILIENCE IN THE FACE OF CLIMATE CHANGE: INNOVATIONS IN SMART CITY LUCKNOW FOR SUSTAINABLE LIVING
Abstract
As the impacts of climate change become more pronounced, cities, especially those in developing countries like India, face unique challenges in ensuring the resilience and sustainability of their urban systems. The concept of urban resilience has emerged as a critical framework for addressing climate change, focusing on the ability of cities to adapt to and recover from environmental shocks while maintaining the welfare of their populations. This paper examines the role of smart city innovations in enhancing urban resilience, particularly in the city of Lucknow, India. As part of the Indian government's Smart Cities Mission, Lucknow is investing in a range of digital and sustainable technologies aimed at improving its resilience to climate change. By integrating smart technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), sustainable infrastructure, and data analytics, Lucknow is positioning itself to become a more resilient and sustainable urban center. This paper discusses the challenges faced by the city, the technological innovations being implemented, and the future potential of these efforts for ensuring sustainable living.
