Abstract

The focus on edgy and dissident voices outside of the English-speaking world makes way for the complex layers of cultural exchange between Shakespeare and Asia. The performances analyzed to a greater or lesser extent hint at interculturality, and contribute to a different understanding of Shakespeare. This is not to suggest that the Anglocentric view of Shakespeare should be substituted or replaced by an Asian view, but the latter is currently gaining importance in its contribution to the questioning of the hypercanonical presence of the author.
