Discourse on Disability in Indian Mythological Literature and Religious Scriptures

Abstract

The question as to why a person becomes disabled was also the subject of study of the Shastra givers. This problem was analyzed from various perspectives of religion, medicine etc. and attempts were made to find out various reasons for disability. Many incidences of a person with disability after birth due to accidents, con-current conditions, punishments etc. have also been talked about. We will present a description of reasons attached with this particular category while keeping in view all these factors.
