Hindu mythology portrays Kali as the ruler of time which is the essence of all existence similar to the elixir of life. Along with Lord Shiva the destroyer, goddess Kaali rules over the realms of death, evolution and power. Kali has various manifestations and different authors have interpreted her presence in different ways. She is the frightening warrior who slays the demons but she is also the mother who protects her children. Her dark colour emphasis her power and her lolling tongue her valour. She is the epitome of modern feminity, untamed and at times raw.
