Abstract
Agriculture plays a vital role in the economy of Assam. Assam is heavily dependent on the agriculture sector. Assam is richly endowed in natural resources, such as abundant rainfall, alluvial soil, rich and diverse plant and animal genetic base. The state is well watered by rivers and the agricultural land receives water through the channels of the irrigation system.70percent of the people of Assam are directly or indirectly dependent on the agricultural sector.
