Abstract

Objectives: By applying the Anatomical and Therapeutic Chemical Classification and the Defined Daily Dose Index, this study aims to detect the use and consumption of antibiotics in tertiary care hospitals. Material and Methods: Point prevalence study and consumption of antibiotics using Defined Daily Dose was done in a tertiary care hospital. In this study, 212 patients from various medical departments made up the entire sample size. From the patient's medical records, demographic and biological information was gathered. Drugs used to treat infections were categorised using the ATC/DDD index, and antibiotic use was calculated using DDD/100 Patient Days.
