Abstract

The goal of the research was to determine how different home and school environments affected the truancy patterns of secondary school pupils in Ogbomosho, Nigeria. Methodology: For this study, a descriptive survey research approach was used. All of the secondary school students in Ogbomosho made up the population, and 300 responses from the city's public and private schools made up the sample. Two private and four public schools provided samples. The schools and students that took part in the research were chosen using straightforward stratified random selection procedures. Information on the impact of family and school types on secondary school students' truancy behavior was gathered using a self designed tool. A pair of conjectures were formulated and examined at the significance level of 0.05. The study's two hypotheses were tested using the t-test statistical method. Findings: The data showed that family types influenced the truancy patterns of Ogbomosho secondary school pupils. It was shown that kids from broken homes were more likely than those from intact families to exhibit truancy behaviors. The outcome further shown that secondary school students' truancy behaviors were impacted by the kind of school.
